The controversy over evolution vs. intelligent design is just one more example of either-or thinking that infects our culture.

My vote often goes to both-or-neither.

In this case, I think there is plenty of room to incorporate both evolution and divine intelligence into a sophisticated worldview.

I believe the solution to the controversy is for science educators to teach the aspects of micro-evolution that have achieved the benchmark of scientific proof, but also to delineate the features of macro-evolution that remain unexplained. Students may then fill in their own blanks.
