The redesigned 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid goes on sale Oct. 19 at a base price of $21,850, not including the $550 destination charge. The 2005 model was priced at $19,900 with a manual transmission and $20,900 with a continuously variable transmission. The CVT is standard for 2006, along with a 1.3-liter, 110-horsepower gas 4-cylinder engine and a 20-h.p. electric motor. Tentative 2006 EPA fuel economy ratings are 50 m.p.g. city and highway, versus 48/47 on the 2005 model. The only factory-installed option is a $1,500 navigation system.
