The good news: A recently conducted survey found that guys with love handles and blue-collar jobs are more attractive than those with movie-star looks and Hollywood paychecks. The bad news: This survey was conducted by Playgirl (not exactly the mainstream magazine for the 21st Century gal).
“We’re a magazine made by women for women,” insisted Jill Sieracki, Playgirl editor in chief. “If some men enjoy looking at men, we say welcome to the club.”
The online survey, conducted over the summer, contained options in categories such as body build, facial hair and something called man-scaping (Rough around the edges but still clean/Nice and neat without too much thought/Full-blown metrosexual).
More than 2,000 responders indicated:
– While 58 percent favor a slightly muscular build, 42 percent find love handles kind of sexy.
– Metrosexuals are out. Rough-around-the-edges guys are preferred by 73 percent.
– Big bucks are unimportant. Only 4 percent think money matters in the long run.
To summarize: Women like fat, sloppy paupers.
“This survey shows that the guy who’s most attractive to our readers is not your average Hollywood hunk or latest musical sensation,” Sieracki said. “In fact, it’s the average Joe who came up on top. Women are practical about their choices, and they’re smart.”
Most Playgirl posers in the past, explained the editor, have been fitness models. But the magazine has recently chosen to go in a different direction, featuring models who aren’t overly concerned about their man-scaping. Whatever that means.
Did you hear that, Guy Page readers? If you’re a little dumpy and want to be ogled by thousands of . . . er . . . women, submit your photos to this open casting call for Playgirl models. Send audition shots to models@playgirlmag.com but not to the Guy Page.
