On Oct. 9 I ran my first marathon in Chicago. I spent five long months going through the rigorous and sometimes painful training process.
No matter how well I trained and no matter how much drive I had inside of me to finish the race, I could not have completed the marathon without the support of more than 1 million people, most of whom did not even know me.
These people pushed me along with their encouraging words, provided me with water and food, patted me on the back and high-fived me.
Yet they have never met me.
It is because of them that I will be back next year to run again.
In the end it was my own personal strength that allowed me to cross the line. Their support, however, carried me much of the way.
Thank you to them for helping me finish my first marathon and making it the most memorable moment of my young life.
