Kenneth E. Tackett, age 42, of Wheaton, IL, passed away peacefully on Saturday, October 8, 2005 following a year long battle with ALS (Lou Gherig’s disease). Survived by his wife Helen Huntley; son Griffin Tackett of Palm Habor, FL; three stepdaughters Lauren, Melissa and Jillian Huntley. His mother Fredia Tackett of Largo, FL and father Bobby Tacket of Lusby, MD. Received his bachelors degree from Florida State and his MBA with a specialization in corporate finance from Roosevelt University. Employed in the corporate offices at Sears for 25 years, during his tenure held many leadership positions within Corporate Strategy, Supply Chain Data and Order Management, Strategic Sourcing, Appliance Buying and Marketing and ended his career as the Senior Project Manager/Chief Merchant for Sears Contract Sales. Instrumental in the development of core teams and was a beloved mentor and friend to many at Sears and within the retail industry. A leader, due in part to his keen intellect, leadership ability, deep understanding of the retail market and willingness to learn and apply new concepts. Ken proclaimed the following a few days before his death, “My life, while short, was very rich and fulfilling, I have no regrets.” A memorial service will be held on Monday, October 17, 2005, 3 p.m. at the Blanchard Road Alliance Church, 1766 S. Blanchard Street, Wheaton, IL.
