Indie acts Death Cab for Cutie, Modest Mouse and semi-indies Franz Ferdinand and the Killers are all signed to major labels, something that wouldn’t have happened in the ’90s. Death Cab’s Chris Walla says some major labels are turning away from “producing” bands in favor of simply distributing them, AP reports.
