The City Council on Monday unanimously approved plans for a 15-home development on the city’s northeast side, in an area where there has been significant redevelopment over the last few years.
The city will annex the 2.5-acre site, in the 2000 block of North President Street and the 2000 block of Stoddard Avenue, and allow developer Airhart Construction to build 13 town homes and one single-family house as the second phase of the Mackenzie Place development. An existing single-family house facing Stoddard will remain.
The project will connect Mackenzie Place’s first phase, which is a 27-unit development and a private street that the council approved in April, with the 15-unit Tartan Court town home-development at the north end of the block, which the city approved in 2003.
Also Monday, the council voted to annex a house at 1619 N. President St. and to approve a preannexation agreement for the land on which a new Elks Lodge will be built.
