Would you work with the person you’re trying to divorce?

Sophia Bush tells People magazine “it’s not always easy” shooting scenes with estranged husband Chad Michael Murray, her co-star on “One Tree Hill,” but she’s making it work.

“My job is my job, and my personal life is my personal life, and I keep them separate,” Bush said at a recent breast cancer charity auction in New York. “It’s my job. It’s not always easy, but it’s my work–it’s what I love and take pride in, and I won’t let that slack because of personal circumstances.”

Bush and Murray actually play love interests on the show–which became an awkward situation when Bush’s rep announced in September that the actress had separated from Murray after about five months of marriage.

They had fallen for each other on the “One Tree Hill” set and were engaged in 2004, with Murray spelling out a secret message in candles to pop the question. They married in April in Santa Monica, Calif.

“I’m a big girl. I’m a strong girl,” Bush told People. “It’s not that I don’t respect other women in my position, but there are things I won’t forgive. I have too much going on in my life to focus on.”

What about ‘One Tree Hill’?

While Sophia Bush and Chad Michael Murray deal with marital problems off screen, their characters on “One Tree Hill” just keep getting closer.

“You know what, the writers aren’t gonna change the story lines,” Bush told the New York Daily News. “Actually, when I spoke with them all, I told them not to. Because I don’t ever want the show to be predicated on my personal life.”

But the show may be falling on hard times itself–the season premiere fell about 1.5 million viewers short of last year’s audience, according to the Nielsen ratings.
