Mel Gibson, sporting a long beard, met this week with Mexican President Vicente Fox to donate $1 million to help the nation recover from Hurricane Stan.
Gibson is filming “Apocalypto” in the gulf state of Veracruz, which Stan slammed.
“Apocalypto” is set hundreds of years ago in Central America and dialogue will be in an obscure Mayan dialect, in the same way Gibson used Aramaic (in addition to other languages) for “The Passion of the Christ.”
Stan and related storms left 1,500 people dead or missing in Central America and Mexico.
