Chicago police and the FBI Saturday were investigating a morning robbery by a man wearing a hat and black jacket who walked into a Charter One Bank and slipped the teller a note demanding money, authorities said.
Police said they believe the man who entered the bank at 2752 W. Montrose Ave. around 10 a.m. might have had a gun, police spokeswoman JoAnn Taylor said. The teller gave the man a bag of money, which contained a dye pack.
The dye pack exploded, covering some of the cash, and police were able to recover the money, Taylor said.
No arrests had been made by Saturday night.
