Two advance scouts take a look at the Game 3 pitching matchup:

ON JON GARLAND:

“That [complete-game victory] at Anaheim was the best game I’ve ever seen him pitch. I was absolutely surprised because he didn’t pitch well in the second half. I guess the long [12-day] break did him some good, because he threw harder and his changeup was effective. His changeup must be effective at that park (Minute Maid).”

ROY OSWALT: “This guy is throwing so well that he doesn’t need to

throw any other pitch but his fastball as long as he has the location. His fastball jumps out of his hand. What’s unfair is that he has that Bugs Bunny curve that he can throw for strikes at 68 m.p.h. The difference in velocity really messes with a hitter’s timing.”
