– ABC News hasn’t named a permanent replacement for the late Peter Jennings at “World News Tonight,” but did say Monday who it won’t be — Diane Sawyer. ABC was responding to a report in an industry magazine that “insiders at the network are buzzing over Diane Sawyer’s apparent interest in the blue-chip slot.”

– Philip Roth has been honored in his hometown of Newark, N.J., which has served as the setting for many of his 26 books. Mayor Sharpe James helped Roth, whose “American Pastoral” was awarded the Pulitzer Prize for fiction in 1997, unveil a plaque on his old home and a street sign renaming the road “Philip Roth Plaza.”

– At $25,000 per minute, advice from Donald Trump doesn’t come cheap. That didn’t stop thousands of fans from attending his Sunday lecture, at $100 to $500 per head (he received $1.5 million for the hour-long speech).
