– Brooke Shields is expecting, People magazine reports on its Web site. The actress and her husband, writer Chris Henchy, will welcome their second child in the spring, according to Shields’ rep. The couple have a 2-year-old daughter, Rowan, and Shields’ book “Down Came the Rain” chronicles her battle with postpartum depression after Rowan’s birth.
– The distributor of 50 Cent’s film “Get Rich or Die Tryin'” said Thursday it was taking down some movie billboards in the Los Angeles area after getting complaints that they glorify gangs and gun violence, Reuters reports. One poster shows the rapper stripped to the waist in a crucifixion-like pose with his tattooed, bullet-scarred back to the camera and arms outstretched, holding a microphone in one hand and a gun in the other.
– The Metropolitan Opera has established the Beverly Sills Artist Award, a $50,000 prize for opera singers. The annual award will be given to U.S. singers ages 25 to 40 who have already appeared in featured solo roles with the company.
