I am deeply concerned by the explosive growth of bank branches in Chicago.

Our neighborhoods are systematically being homogenized to the point of extinction.

I live in the Gold Coast area and can count five bank branches within a block of each other.

Is this what Chicago is all about?

We are known for our unique neighborhoods and our interesting and varied local stores.

All this is being wiped out by the spread of what City Hall might call “progress.”

I call it an “abomination.”

Every time I see an empty storefront now, I know that most likely a bank branch or more ATMs are coming.

When will it stop?
