Ex-officer sentenced in FBI drug bust–Reginal Ross, 59, of Chicago, a former Cook County Forest Preserve police officer, was sentenced Friday to almost 4 years in prison for plotting to hold up a supposed drug dealer who actually was an undercover FBI agent. Ross is the 10th former law enforcement officer convicted in the FBI’s undercover probe, code-named Operation Blue Steal.

Kane panel meets possible jail builders–Representatives from four firms–Harbour Contractors of Plainfield, IHC Construction Companies of Elgin, d’Escoto Inc. of Aurora and Texas-based Turner Construction’s Chicago office–were interviewed Friday by a Kane County Board committee for “construction manager at risk” of the new 608-bed county jail. The committee will meet Tuesday to pick a preferred candidate.

Alleged McHenry assault victim drops case–Sexual assault charges have been dropped against Ajay Majmudar, 32, of the 1500 block of Laurie Lane, Hanover Park, and Anthony J. Parochelli, 27, of the 0-99 block of Clara Ct., Algonquin, because the alleged victim from McHenry decided not to pursue the case, prosecutors said.

Fugitive gets 7-year sentence in assault–Fugitive Lewis Basset of Matteson was sentenced Friday to 7 years in prison Friday in the assault of Matteson Mayor Mark Stricker last year. Basset has been on the lam since April, but a jury convicted him in a September trial.

Suspect charged in stabbing–Joseph Allen Pryor of Speedway, near Indianapolis, was charged with murder Friday in connection with the stabbing death of James Santelli, 45, a Palatine construction worker found last week in a Speedway motel.

Man gets 16 years in wife’s assault–Paul Vultaggio, 41, of Addison was sentenced to 16 years in prison Friday for raping his estranged wife and cracking her teeth with a set of pliers last year.
