Ralph E. Long, age 78, of St. Charles, formerly of Evanston, died Friday at Pine View Care Center, St. Charles. He was born March 31, 1927 in Dwight, IL. Mr. Long was a 1945 graduate of Dwight High School and then attended Harvard University on a scholarship. He served in the Marine Corps from 1945 to 1946 being stationed in China. He was employed by St. Regis Paper Co. for 30 years before his retirement. He is survived by his niece, Barbara (Tim) Moran of Geneva; a great-niece, Alison and a great-nephew, Christopher. Mr. Long was preceded in death by his parents, Ralph and Edith Long and a sister, Winifred Goddard. Graveside Services will be held 11 a.m., Thursday at Oak Hill Cemetery, Geneva. There is no visitation. Contributions may be made to the Leukemia Research Foundation, 820 Davis St., Ste. 420, Evanston, IL 60201.
