– Matias Tarnopolsky, senior director of artistic planning at the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, has been named artistic administrator of the New York Philharmonic, effective Jan. 3.

– Jerry Hall has withdrawn from the cast of the London West End musical “High Society,” saying she is suffering from the energy-sapping illness glandular fever. The ex-wife of Rolling Stone Mick Jagger had been absent for more than a week.

– “Big” Kenny Alphin, of the country music duo Big & Rich, and his wife, Christiev, are the parents of a baby boy. Lincoln W.H. Alphin was born Wednesday morning, according to a spokeswoman at the singer’s label, Warner Brothers Nashville.
