I’d like to share with your readers the last two paragraphs of “Terror fight returns to high court; Justices take up case of military tribunals for terrorism suspects” (Page 1, Nov. 8):

“The issue of terror suspects came up Monday as Bush visited Panamanian President Martin Torrijos in Panama City. Bush said U.S. treatment of such suspects was legal and declared: `We do not torture.’

“Bush voiced support for Vice President Dick Cheney’s efforts to block or modify a proposed ban on torture that has been passed by the Senate. Cheney wants Congress to exempt the Central Intelligence Agency from the proposed torture ban.”

Um, run that by me again–we don’t torture, but we want the CIA to be able to torture?

Good grief, only Bush.
