Your Nov. 15 editorial “Relentless roadwork” asked why there isn’t better communication among those involved. For me, an even better question is why roadwork isn’t truly relentless–that is, once started, why it isn’t around-the-clock, perhaps 24/7? By getting the job done more quickly, gridlock would be tremendously reduced, and the efficiencies experienced may even save money.

In some countries round-the-clock roadwork has been common for decades.

Why doesn’t the Tribune adopt this objective as a cause?
