Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

When Microsoft launches the Xbox 360 on Tuesday, it also will roll out an advanced version of its Xbox Live online network, which will allow users to make their 360 unit a home entertainment system. It plays DVDs, CDs and connects to iPods, digital cameras and home computers.

Here’s how it works:

– Users who now pay $50 a year and have a high-speed broadband Internet connection can play games remotely against competitors over the Internet.

– Users who pay for the revamped Xbox Live premium service, also at about $50 a year, also can access features such as downloadable arcade games, text and voice messaging and personalized game communities. Other content, such as music videos, movie trailers and game demos, also can be downloaded for free or for a fee.

– At the new Xbox Live Marketplace, users can buy new versions of games and add-ons for existing games such as weapons packages, vehicles or player icons and pictures.
