Alan J. Schmidt, 78, of Venice, FL, formerly of Wheaton, died Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005 at Venice Regional Hospital. He was born July 22, 1927 in Monroe, MI. He served in the U.S. Army Medical Corps in the Philippines, and later graduated from Valparaiso University. He was a member of St. John Lutheran Church in Wheaton and Lakeside Lutheran Church in Venice. He retired from Sunbeam Appliance Corp. after 25 years and became a managing partner in House of Incentives before establishing Alan Schmidt and Associates (now Acclaim Motivation Group) in 1978. He and wife, Joan, moved to Venice, FL in 1995, where they have greatly enjoyed the past 10 years together. He is survived by his wife of 55 years; sister, Haroldene Wagner of Clearwater, FL; his four children; eight grandchildren and one great-grandchild. A Memorial Service was held Friday, Nov. 11, 2005 at Lakeside Lutheran Church in Venice. Inurnment will be at the Lakeside Lutheran Church Memorial Garden.
