Terrence M. “Terry” Tagg, 53, of Park Forest, died unexpectedly in his home on Nov. 24, 2005. He was the owner of Tagg’s Refrigeration, Park Forest, IL. He is survived by his brothers, Dennis (Terrie) and Richard Michael Tagg; fond uncle of Mary, Richard and Dennis; chosen uncle of Caitlyn and Derek. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Richard and Kathleen, nee McDonald, Tagg; and one brother, Patrick A. Tagg. Fiercely loyal to all, Terry’s extended family of friends to whom he was also unwaveringly devoted extends literally across the country. Born May 11, 1952 in Harvey, Terry was a loveable, quirky master mechanic of unrivaled technical skill and knowledge. Terry garnered the respect and admiration of colleagues from every technical area of expertise in which he practiced. Terry participated for more than 15 years as a lead technician working with the Pepsi-Cola trade show program in almost every major trade show venue in the nation. His career installation and service affiliations spanned the leaders in their markets including Multiplex, McDonalds, Manitowoc and a vast array of others. A 1970 graduate of Marian Catholic High School, he was continually motivated by a need to be of service to others. Though he liked at times to play the untouchable grouch, he could ALWAYS be depended upon to give freely of his time, knowledge, possessions, and most importantly, himself. Terry was a former member of the Civil Air Patrol (he so loved to fly) and routinely donated his rare blood type whenever needed. Among his staples, and also his mantra, was “anything covered with cheese and a diet drink.” Crossword puzzles, which he did only in ink, served both as proof of his perfectionism, and his primary entertainment. Terry will be, much to his own surprise, surely and sorely missed by so very many. The world cannot help but be a little darker, colder and less friendly place as a result of his loss. Certainly, the light of his expansive knowledge, experience and compassion has been forever quenched. Yet, to those of us he has touched, only the goodness that was Terry shall ever remain, and the honor of knowing and learning from him will forever be a most cherished gift. A memorial visitation to honor Terry will be held on Sunday, Dec. 4, from 2 to 9 p.m. at Hirsch Funeral Homes West End Chapel, 1340 Otto Blvd., Chicago Heights, IL 60411. A Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. All are invited to attend. In addition to final expenses, a lasting memorial is being planned. Donations can be made to The Terrence M. Tagg Memorial Fund, JP Morgan Chase Bank, Department 5926, Carol Stream, IL 60122-5926. Information, 708-755-9014 .
