After my husband, Bob, and I were featured in “What’s your problem” column (Metro, Nov. 2), complaining about the rough corner crossings and lack of curb ramps on Wabash in the Loop, I was hopeful that Mayor Richard M. Daley’s office would take steps to make it easier and safer for those of us who are pushing loved ones in wheelchairs. On Nov 25, for the first time since the issue appeared in the column, Bob and I traveled from our home in Bloomington to our Chicago Loop getaway at State and Monroe, specifically to attend a matinee at the Auditorium Theatre. I was overjoyed as I pushed Bob in the wheelchair to find that every one of the corners from Monroe to Congress has been smoothed and improved. My thanks to the Tribune and to the mayor for his speed in moving positively on this issue.
