It took a lot for producers to get married to the idea of bringing back “X-Men” for its third–and probably final–installment on May 26.
Something old: Hugh Jackman as Wolverine.
Something new: “Rush Hour” director Brett Ratner replaces Bryan Singer.
Something borrowed: Ben Foster of “Six Feet Under” joins the cast. He plays Angel.
Something blue: As in the azure-skinned mutant Beast, played by former “Frasier” star Kelsey Grammer. “I’d never really thought about doing comic-book movies before,” Grammer says. “But this one has always been about what it’s like to be an outsider. And we’ve all felt that way at times.”
Kelsey isn’t the only star catching sequel fever:
– A screenwriter for “The Grudge” tells movie site Dread Central that Sarah Michelle Gellar will reprise her role in “The Grudge 2.” Filming starts in January.
– “The Fantastic 4” heralds its comeback on July 4, 2007. The news drops as the DVD of the original hits stores Tuesday.
