It’s Jay-Z vs. Diamond Dallas Page in a legal-steel-cage-death-match over … a hand sign?
That’s right, according to a lawsuit reportedly filed in L.A. on Friday, Hova and his record company, Roc-A-Fella Records, are being accused of trademark and copyright infringement over the use of former pro wrestler DDP’s “Diamond Cutter” symbol.
According to mtv.com, Page is seeking an injunction to prohibit Jay-Z from using the gesture and a unspecified amount of money. “People would come up to him and ask him if he was letting Jay-Z use it or if he had licensed it to him,” Page’s lawyer George Gallegos told MTV.
Gallegos said the symbol was created in 1996. If the suit goes through, it may come back to haunt Page, considering his “cutter” sign has been used by sorority girls for decades.
