Your article “How giving are Americans?” (News, Nov. 21) was interesting. Please note that the least generous states are all blue states, Democratic and liberal. The most generous states are all conservative, Republican, red states.
You see, the Democrats don’t give their own money to charities; they only want to give away other people’s money. The conservatives don’t mind giving away their own money.
The Catalogue of Philanthropy’s generosity index proves the liberal point:
Say anything for votes, but don’t reach into one’s own pocket to back up the rhetoric.
