The Steppenwolf Theatre Company has confirmed casting for its upcoming production of Richard Greenberg’s “The Well-Appointed Room,” directed by Terry Kinney. Along with Steppenwolf ensemble members Tracey Letts and Amy Morton, the slate includes Kate Arrington and Josh Charles (of “Dead Poets Society” fame). . . . Shattered Globe will present John Guare’s “House of Blue Leaves” as the first production of its 15th anniversary season. . . . Matt O’Brien has resigned as the artistic head of the company he founded, Chicago’s Irish Repertory. . . . With its currently running revue, “Yellow,” the improv troupe Stir-Friday Night celebrates its 10th anniversary–a notable achievement in the fast-turning world of Chicago improv. . . . The MacArthur Foundation has awarded $150,000 over five years to the Lookingglass Theatre. It’s the largest institutional gift the troupe has received. . . . Theo Ubique Theatre Company has extended its widely admired production of “The Fantasticks” through Jan. 28. . . . Single tickets have finally gone on sale to “Little Women,” the touring Broadway production coming to the Cadillac Palace Theatre on Jan. 24. . . . Since construction delays mean the LaSalle Bank Theatre now is not opening until the spring, the production of “Golda’s Balcony” is being pushed back to a date yet to be announced. . . . A new touring kids’ show is coming to the Auditorium Theatre in April: “Barbie Live in Fairytopia.” It stars the actress Barbie playing the character of Elina. Needless to say, the show comes replete with flying effects.
