Conant junior Allison Buckley on Saturday accomplished the rarest of feats: hitting her goal of a perfect score.

She received a 10 on floor exercise at the 27th annual Conant Invitational, joining select company in the state’s history of boys and girls high school gymnastics. Buckley, a two-time runner-up in the state all-around competition, earned the perfect score just moments after falling off the balance beam.

Conant, the state runner-up the last two years, won a meet where teams count three scores instead of the normal four. The Cougars earned 111.35 points, with Carmel (110.65) second.

Buckley also won the all-around, with a 38.15, and won the vault and uneven bars. Warren junior Lindsey Jindra was all-around runner-up and the beam champion.

In the last decade of girls competition, two past state all-around winners, Fremd’s MaryAnne Kelley and Stevenson’s Lindsay Borkan, are known to have earned a 10. While they did it during the regular season, Glenbard West’s Josh Levin accomplished perfection in state competition, winning the 1996 pommel horse title.

“It is an honor to get a 10,” Buckley said. “It’s something that’s so big in gymnastics. I knew it was a good routine, but you never know with the judges. It’s amazing.”
