John “Jack” Schlegel, 84, of Chicago, passed away Dec. 12, 2005, WWII Veteran of Army Air Corps, served in Tinian and India, Director of Advertising with Ekco Housewares, owner and founder of Jack E. Schlegel Advertising, beloved husband of Arden, nee Hertzog, for 45 years; dear father of Fred H. (LaVonn) Schlegel and Margie (Derk) Osenberg; loving grandfather of Sarah, Matthew, Drake and Kyle; fond brother of Norman (Bette) Schlegel and the late Captain Roland (late Katherine) Schlegel. Visitation Thursday 4 to 8 p.m. at Nelson Funeral Home, 820 Talcott Road (at Cumberland), Park Ridge. Family and friends will meet directly at Park Ridge Presbyterian Church, 1300 W. Crescent (at Delphia), Park Ridge, Friday for visitation 10 a.m. until time of Funeral Service 11 a.m. Interment private.
