I have to commend White Sox GM Kenny Williams for the off-season moves he has made thus far. Jim Thome fills the need for a left-handed power hitter and occasional first baseman. Rob Mackowiak fills the need for a backup third baseman who can play other positions. Javier Vazquez makes the best rotation in baseball even better and might open the doors for a possible big trade.

Jon Garland, Juan Uribe and a prospect or two for Miguel Tejada sounds pretty good to me. That would fill the need for a No. 3 hitter in the lineup. But even keeping the team the way it is after picking up Vazquez would be fine. You can never have too much pitching.
