Don’t cry for Rebecca Jarvis.

Sure, Donald Trump passed her over, picking Randal Pinkett as “The Apprentice.” And, sure, Jarvis was shocked when, at the very end of Thursday’s finale, the usually congenial Pinkett immediately shot down the Donald’s suggestion that he hire Jarvis anyway.

But by the time we caught up with her on Friday, Jarvis–a Chicago business journalist–said she already had quite a few lucrative job offers, including one from Yahoo.

“I’m not saying that’s the one I’m honing in on,” the 24-year-old University of Chicago grad told us. “But it’s an example of the quality of offers I am getting. I had expected to get a job with Mr. Trump.”

Jarvis said she expected to get that job with Trump up until he said “You’re hired” to Pinkett. Jarvis truly thought they both were getting picked. “Looking at Mr. Trump’s face–his smile–it seemed like one big happy family sitting on stage,” she said. “I fully expected that Mr. Trump was going to give me an opportunity. Later in the night, he even acknowledged that he was shocked when Randal said `no.’ I know I was shocked.”

So were her legion of fans. A particularly vocal group of “Rebecca Backers” have even begun an Internet petition (www.hirerebeccanow.com) trying to convince Trump to hire Jarvis. Jarvis says she’s already talked to Trump about that. “It was a rudimentary conversation,” she said. “But there definitely is an expressed interest.”

So don’t cry for Rebecca Jarvis.

“I have one message for people who are worried about me,” Jarvis told Armour & Co. “Do not worry, have no fear–Rebecca Jarvis will persevere.”

Hmmm. Sounds like the beginning of an ad campaign.
