Rookie Andrew Bogut made a fadeaway jumper as time expired to give the host Bucks a 109-107 overtime victory over the Spurs on Tuesday. The No. 1 pick also scored the tying basket with 14 seconds left in overtime and finished with 19 points. Maurice Williams scored 28 to lead the Bucks, who had lost six of their last seven to the Spurs.
Big homecoming for Riley
Shaquille O’Neal hit his first eight shots (six dunks and two layups) and finished with 28 points and 10 rebounds in only 24 minutes as the Heat beat the Hawks 111-92 in Pat Riley’s first home game since replacing Stan Van Gundy.
“It’s my job to make him look good,” O’Neal said. “He’s a very good-looking man, so it’s my job to keep him looking good.”
The only drama came midway through the first quarter, when Dwyane Wade was shaken up and remained down for a couple of minutes. He appeared to suffer either an eye or nasal injury but returned later with no apparent distress. He had some swelling after the game.
Heat center Alonzo Mourning missed the victory with an upper respiratory infection, the first game the NBA’s top shot-blocker (3.56 bpg) has missed.
Kirilenko proving fragile
Jazz forward Andrei Kirilenko (back spasms) sat out Tuesday’s 110-85 loss to the Cavaliers. Kirilenko, who missed six games in his first three seasons, missed seven last month with an ankle sprain. In 2004-05 he missed 41 games due to knee, ankle and wrist injuries.
