SHUSH. HEAR THAT? Neither did I. It’s because Paul Newman just appeared. I’ve heard of quiet on the set, but this is the pressroom. Even Ronald McDonald quit clowning around, and this is his party for recipients of the Ronald McDonald House Charities “Awards of Excellence” in Rosemont.

Special menu, available only tonight at the Stephenson Convention Center in Rosemont:

Black-eyed peas: Not hip-hop’s Fergie. This is the first “Fergie,” Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York-albeit, decidedly less hippy.

Ham and cheesy: Ronald McDonald, the other redhead, in his formalwear of golden tails and big red shoes to support his arches.

Hot dog: The evening’s emcee, “American Idol” judge Randy Jackson, who calls everyone either “dude” or “dawg,” including the duchess.

Select sides: Songwriters David Foster and Amy Foster-Gillies, singers Lee Ann Womack and Nita Whitaker, TLC’s Doug Wilson, and Jake Glaser of the Elizabeth Glaser Pediatric AIDS Foundation.
