Dalmain H. “Dal” Estes, 88, Pontiac, passed away peacefully on December 24th, at his home, surrounded by his family. Born December 21, 1917 in Missouri. WWII Veteran, Recipient of Purple Heart, Five Bronze Stars and a Silver Star. Recipient of the Studs Terkel Humanities Award in 2002. Member of the Illinois Humanities Council and Founder of the Livingston County War Museum and Education Center. Forty year employee of Swift and Company. His greatest legacy was his family. Loving husband of Betty (Mertes); father of David, Becky (Ken) McComb, Cynthia (Simmie Baer), Melissa (Keith) Barnhart, Adam and Elizabeth Estes-Cooper; devoted grandfather to Jason (Rhonda) McComb, Lizzie (Craig) Roscoe, Claire Barnhart and proud great-grandfather to Grace Roscoe.
