Kenneth W. Hamming, after steadily growing worse over the last year and a 1/2 from heart failure, passed away Wednesday, December 21, 2005 at Hospice House in Naples, Florida. He was 87. He was born in Chicago in 1918. His parents, Esther and Joseph Hamming are deceased. Ken is survived by Joyce, his loving wife of nearly 54 years; a son, Stephen Hamming; a daughter, Nancy Anderson; and eight grandchildren; a son, Greg died in 2001. Ken attended high school and North Park College in Chicago. He graduated from the University of Illinois with a degree in General Engineering. In 1940, he joined the engineering firm of Sargent and Lundy and became a senior partner of the firm in 1966 and retired in 1977. He lived in Wilmette, IL and for many years enjoyed homes in Egg Harbor, WI and Naples, FL. Ken was an avid sailor, car collector and an accomplished piano and organ musician. Friends will be invited to a memorial service at the Winnetka Covenant Church this summer, the date is yet to be determined.
