I was appalled by the blatant anti-Israel front-page article by Tribune foreign correspondent Joel Greenberg, “Wall casts shadow on Arabs in Bethlehem.”

The article serves absolutely no purpose other than to smear Israel and inflame negative emotions against the Jewish state at this sensitive time of year.

Particularly galling is Greenberg’s blatant derision of Israel’s reason for building the wall: to keep out homicide bombers.

It is an inescapable fact that the wall has cut terror incidents against Israeli Jews and Christians by more than 90 percent.

Moreover, Greenberg’s description of the decline of Bethlehem’s Christian population blames Israel in complete contradiction to the evidence.

Yasser Arafat made no secret of his deliberate efforts to “cleanse” Bethlehem of Christians.

Greenberg’s persistence in portraying Arab terrorists as helpless victims does no justice to either the truth or to the people who are held hostage to Islamic terror.

Greenberg ignores the fact that the wall may have been constructed by Israel, but it was built by the terrorists.

His reporting is a grievous insult to the intelligence of your readers.
