Artist info: Following the lead of its Canadian brethren in The Arcade Fire, Wolf Parade became 2005’s most buzzed-about new band, equally subject to overzealous praise and predictable backlash.
Back story: The Montreal quartet’s “Apologies to the Queen Mary” dropped in September, mixing uplifting arrangements, bobbing harmonies, tightly wound grooves and instantly hummable hooks into a swaggering, bustling and occasionally shambolic spree.
Influences: There’s a lot of Modest Mouse’s Isaac Brock in the vocals of Dan Boeckner.
Trivia: The band sold out the Viaduct Theater on New Year’s Eve.
