This note is to comment on “With `Ohs’ and `Aughts,’ naught has caught on” (Tempo, Jan. 9), regarding what to call our middle-aged decade.

I’d like to resurrect my choice, now six years dormant: The “Zip” decade. In scoring, “zip” always means zero, but as well, in this high-tech, fast-paced era, zip seems to apply well. Babies born of the Zip generation could be called “Zippers.” So, if you’re keeping score on what to call this year, see how Zip-6 flows in conversation.
