Iraq’s electoral commission said Monday that 227 ballot boxes from the Dec. 15 parliamentary vote, less than 1 percent of the country’s election total, would be thrown out because of fraud. Last month, Iraqis cast ballots into almost 32,000 boxes, meaning the 227 boxes being thrown out will have little effect on the overall vote. Certified final results are expected in early February.
