As much as I feel bad for the congregants of the Pilgrim Baptist Church, which was destroyed by fire, and as much as I hate to admit it, for the first time in my life I must concur with the American Civil Liberties Union in its reaction to our governor’s offer to contribute one million of our dollars for repairs to the church.
Whether or not he is allowed to make good on that offer, it will get him some much-needed votes when he runs for re-election, so it’s a win-win situation for the governor.
