I refuse to use self-checkout lanes in Jewel because by using them, I’m taking away the job of a unionized employee with a good income and benefits. If the dream of fair jobs is to be realized in our time, we will have to join together to fight outsourcing, lost pensions, poor health-care programs and self-checkouts.
