When I was vacationing in the Naples area of Florida after the last presidential election, I read an editorial page in a local newspaper that had about 50 readers’ comments on the Bush election victory. Many of the comments were of this nature: The voter would not have voted for President Bush, but, after all, you can’t desert a commander in chief during wartime. My comment: of course first you have to have a war.

Perhaps Bush’s handlers thought of that.
