– Showtime has snagged “Match Point” star Jonathan Rhys-Meyers to play Henry VIII in “The Tudors,” a new series doubling as drama and English history lesson, Zap2it.com reports. Showtime has ordered 10 episodes of “The Tudors,” which will focus on the early part of Henry’s reign.
– Billy Joel has added a second appearance at the Carrier Dome in Syracuse, N.Y.–one at which he will talk instead of performing. Syracuse University announced Thursday that Joel will be the keynote speaker for this year’s May 14 commencement.
– Bryce Dallas Howard (“The Village”) is in negotiations to play Peter Parker’s love interest Gwen Stacy in “Spider-Man 3,” which is scheduled to begin filming this month, according to the Hollywood Reporter. Columbia is keeping a tight lid on the third movie’s story line, though it is known that Gwen is the third in a love triangle. The film is set for release next year.
