Getting your Trinity Audio player ready...

On Tuesday, a lucky few will get a call telling them they’ve been nominated for the 78th annual Academy Awards, to be handed out March 5.

An even more select group, also lucky, will get a call from us on Feb. 24, saying they’ve been chosen to receive movie gift certificates and DVDs thanks to their votes in the second annual TAFFYs (Teen Awards for Favorite Films of the Year).

If you think “Sky High” was the best film of its kind in the “teens with superpowers” genre, here’s your chance to talk it up. Voting is in six categories (with a bonus question, for those who enjoy the essay portion of tests) and continues through noon Feb. 24; category winners will be announced in the Movies section on March 3.

Keep reading for categories, rules and a list reminding you of some of the year’s cinematic offerings. We look forward to hearing from you.

Think about how life could change

Movies touched base with Josie Truong, who at age 19 won TAFFY’s debut contest last year, to see how winning the $100 gift card (and three DVDs) changed her life. (Second place gets a $50 gift card and 2 DVDs, third place a $25 gift card and 1 DVDs.)

“I saw a whole bunch of movies, and treated a couple of my friends and family to some movies,” Truong says.

Enter the 2006 contest, and that lifestyle could be yours!
