John P. O’Malley Sr., age 92, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family. Beloved husband of the late Mary Jane “Jinx”, nee Van Boxel; loving father of Maureen Hasto, Colleen (Kevin) Travers, John (Carleen) and Kathleen (Larry) McLaughlin; very proud Papa of Amanda, Anthony, Shannon, John, Matthew, Megan, Mary Kate and Larry; dear brother of Alice O’Malley and the late Edward O’Mally. He was a man of immeasurable strength, determination and will to the very end. “To us he was a mountain as strong as rock can be, in life we love him dearly and we never thought he would leave.” Funeral Thursday, 9 a.m., from the Cumberland Chapels, 8300 W. Lawrence Ave., Norridge, to St. Eugene Church, Mass 10 a.m. Interment All Saints Cemetery. He was a U.S. Army Veteran and Medic WWII, served in the Pacific Theatre.
