– CBS’s “Rock Star,” the show that found a frontman for INXS, returns for a second season in summer 2006, with casting calls beginning in early March. Wannabe rockers can line up for the open call on March 11 in Chicago; venues will be announced at a later date.
– Lawyers for Marlon Brando’s estate have settled a sexual harassment and unlawful termination lawsuit against the late actor’s estate by his former business manager, attorneys said. Details of the settlement, described as “amicable” by lawyers for Jo An Corrales of Kalama, Wash., were not released.
– Russell Simmons has received a key to the city of Newark, N.J., for his dedication to young people. About 2,000 students from Weequahic High School attended the presentation Thursday for the 48-year-old co-founder of Def Jam Records, creator of HBO’s “Def Comedy Jam” and chairman of Rush Communications, which includes Simmons’ Phat clothing empire. Newark Mayor Sharpe James honored Simmons for his work with the Hip-Hop Summit Action Network, a group Simmons founded to help at-risk youth.
– Prosecutors on Thursday accused actor Tom Sizemore of failing another drug test and of getting thrown out of a drug treatment program for arguing with another person. Deputy District Atty. Sean Carney told a judge that Sizemore violated his probation by testing positive for drugs on Jan. 23 and being ousted from a treatment program Tuesday. Sizemore told the judge he was just talking with the other person. The hearing resumes Tuesday.
