Of all the R&B divas to tick off, Jamie Foxx might have picked the worst one: Mary J. Blige.
Foxx laid the double-whammy on the queen of hip-hop soul, reports the New York Daily News. First, he reportedly promised she could sing one of her own songs on his NBC special in exchange for performing a duet with him, only to let her solo end up on the cutting-room floor.
Then, at a pre-Grammys party, Foxx made the faux pas of booking both Mary J. and Jodeci. (Mary J. had a publicly rocky relationship with group member K-Ci.) Witnesses told the Daily News that Mary J. jetted early and “American Idol” Fantasia had to fill in.
A spokesman for Mary J.’s label Geffen Records said she left because of an early-morning rehearsal.
