— Russia’s Tatiana Totmianina and Maxim Marinin won gold in the pairs figure skating free skate, blowing away No. 2 finishers Zhang Dan and Zhang Hao of China.

— Snowboarders Hannah Teter won gold and Gretchen Bleiler won silver–another set of medals for the U.S. on the halfpipe.

— U.S. speed skater Joey Cheek won gold in the men’s 500 meters.

— American gold medal contender Lindsey Kildow escaped serious injury in a crash on her downhill training run, one of four crashes on the run. U.S. luger Samantha Retrosi was hurt in a crash and suffered a concussion.

— Anne “Grandma Luge” Abernathy, a 52-year-old luge competitor for the U.S. Virgin Islands, withdrew because of a broken wrist. See grandmaluge.com.

— The final four in women’s hockey is set. Finland and Sweden join Canada and the U.S. in Friday’s semifinals.
