As every winter tripper knows, there is more to do at a ski resort than yo-yo up and down the mountain. That is one reason why the resorts offer weeklong passes good for only five out of seven days.
The off time allows visitors a chance to shop, swig, soak, simmer, slumber, sightsee or simply soothe sore sinews in a spa all day. While such activities are universally available, a few resorts offer endeavors that are truly out-of-the-ordinary. For those looking for a “special” diversion from downhilling, here are a few suggestions.
– CRAWL A CANYON OUTSIDE JASPER, ALBERTA
– SLEIGH AN ELK IN NORTHWESTERN WYOMING
– BOB A SLED NEAR PARK CITY, UTAH
– SNOWSHOE TO SUPPER NEAR BURLINGTON, VT.
– TRAIN TO TOWN 57 MILES OUTSIDE DENVER
– PADDLE-WHEEL IT IN SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, CALIF.
– MUSH A HUSKY IN GRAND MARAIS, MINN.
