Even though I am not a smoker, I think the recent high taxes added to a pack of cigarettes are unfair to smokers (“County doubling tax on cigarettes to $2 per pack,” Metro, Feb. 10).
I would rather see additional taxes focused on liquor, which is a far greater scourge on society socially, financially and economically.
I never have been much in favor of so-called “sin taxes.” I’m just thankful that the powers that be don’t tax society for every sin we commit.
